With the proliferation of electrical and electronic devices, tools and equipment in the workplace  there is a responsibility on employers to ensure that all electrical equipment is tested for electrical safety at frequent intervals.

Section 2 - Health and Safety at Work Act (1984) puts a duty of care upon employers and employees "to ensure the safety of all persons using the workplace".

Section 4  -  Electricity at Work Regulation (1989) states that "all systems shall be maintained so as to prevent, as far as is reasonably practicable, such danger."

To enable companies to comply with this legislation, there are now a number of standardized tests that need to be applied by a certified engineer.

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (1998) states that "every employer shall ensure that work equipment is maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair"

Regulation 3 - Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (1999) declares that "every employer shall make a suitable and efficient assessment of the risks to health and safety of his employees to which they are exposed whilst they are at work, and the risks to the health and safety of persons not in his employment arising out of or in connection with the conduct by him of his employees"

As well as  documenting compliance with legal requirements, the detailed test reports provide clients with a useful asset management tool that can detect looming technical problems before they strike.
